My first blog?

I don’t really know what to write, but I’m hoping the words will flow as I type. Let’s start with an introduction. Hi, I’m Sam, and I’m a 16 year old geek trying to get through life and high school, and so far, it’s been going pretty well. I’m in my sophomore year, and I’m just about wrapping it up, we’re so close to summer, yippee!!!

For many years I have been asked the dreaded family question, “What do you want to do when you grow up?”, and for many, many, years, my response has always been, “I don’t really know, I haven’t figured it out yet,” or “I’m still exploring options,” or something within those lines, until now. For my 10th grade, I enrolled in a magnet school that my district offered named iCSI, or the Institute of Cybersecurity and Innovation, and to be completely honest, it has opened so many opportunities for me. Not only did it make me finally realize what I want to do as a career, IT and Cybersecurity, but it has also connected me with one of my closest friends, and the greatest best friend one could ever ask for. This year, we took the Tech+ (formerly ITF+) course, and we are just about ready to get our certification, in fact, our exams are next week, and I am stressed but also excited to take this, as this will basically be the first step of many paths that I will be able to pursue!

Now enough about school, let’s talk about me personally. I am based of San Antonio, TX, and I’m a tech enthusiast, casual photographer (and by casual, I mean not professional) as a hobby, and I love collecting tech, old and new, like phones, computers, gaming consoles, you name it (check my About Me page to see my partial collection list). I have been been a tech lover longer than I can remember. One time, a family friend told me when I was a tiny little baby, I loved to push buttons on all kinds of things to see what they do, and that continues to be my personality, I love to see how things work and to learn what they do! I also love taking great pictures, even if the definition of “great” is not great to other people, but that’s ok, as long as I love and admire the feeling of capturing a moment in time to conserve and look back when I’m feeling reminiscent or nostalgic.

Speaking of nostalgic, I really love the ’90s, it’s an era that I wish I was part of but wasn’t, but still try to emulate the feeling of living in the ’90s because it was such an interesting time that we lived in. My all-time favorite show, Friends, was probably one of my first encounters of 1990s media (excluding the childhood Disney classics like Mulan, Pocahontas, Toy Story, etc), because it really showed me what life was like back then, people were more social, life was chaotic yet quiet, and hell, even personal cellphones weren’t even a thing until the late ’90s, and even then, it was a rare luxury that not many people had or could afford, so people often just hoped others showed up when they had plans, or depended on beepers and pay phones to communicate with others long-distance.

Anyways, I feel like I kind of derailed a bit, but that’s all for now. I really hope I can write another one of these “blogs” in the future, mostly about life and school updates, what I’m up to, kind of like by personal public diary. Later!
